</title><link>http://www.andersonvalleypost.com/news/2012/may/03/jury-cottonwood-woman-guilty-torture-other-charges/?partner=RSS</link><description>After a little more than two hours of deliberation Wednesday, a seven-man, five-woman jury found a Cottonwood woman guilty of three charges connected to beating a 7-year-old boy nearly to death in late 2009.
However, Rachel Limon, 30, was found not guilty of attempted murder and attempted voluntary manslaughter. Instead, jurors found Limon guilty of torture, aggravated mayhem and child abuse with a special allegation of great bodily injury.
Despite her acquittal on the counts of attempted murder and attempted manslaughter, Limon, who stared straight ahead as the verdicts were read, faces a maximum of two life sentences in prison, plus nine years.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 29.

</title><link>http://www.andersonvalleypost.com/news/2012/apr/10/police-issue-warning-dont-feed-panhandlers/?partner=RSS</link><description>You see them at stop lights, street corners, and big box stores. Sometimes they approach you in a parking lot, other times they might spin you a tale of woe, but they always want the same thing. Money.
Though the economy might be on the mend, panhandling seems to be more and more common these days. Last month, the Redding Police Department (RPD) issued a stern reminder to residents that it is better “to give to a local charitable organization that helps people in need” than handing money to a stranger.
