</title><link>http://www.andersonvalleypost.com/news/2012/may/08/motherhood-essential-job/?partner=RSS</link><description>The most important job in the world has little or nothing to do with the famous figures in history — the Bushes, Clintons, Roosevelts and other heads of governments.
The world’s most important job is one of the lowest rated and lowest paid — i.e. the job of a stay-at-home, caring mother. It is a difficult job, requiring years of dedication, loving, teaching and doing, the mundane repetitious chores that make for a happy, healthy home dedicated to bringing up honest, useful citizens.

The news contained so many accounts of needless deaths suffered by innocent people because of the actions of others.
One was the accidental death of a Cottonwood fireman on duty, not by fire, but struck while at the scene of an earlier accident by an out of control pickup sliding on a highway covered with hail.

Authorities don’t know yet how much gold is missing or the reason the alarm didn’t sound off.
The thieves must have gotten an appreciable amount when they seized the gold nuggets from the front of the broken display case.

William Tyler Page, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, expressed this when he wrote “The American’s Creed” in 1917.
It was accepted by a House vote and presented to the nation in 1919, becoming required learning for California school children in the years leading up to World War II.
What follows is the original wording of The American’s Creed:

It was an upsetting time for us.
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation had seized our property in Trinity County and closed the gold dredge down leaving my late-husband George out of a job. We had to move with no place to go.
