Shasta Lake Bass Easter Classic
Anderson sophomore Ty Meyer, on a two-strike, two-out double, hit the ball some 20 feet up the center-field wall to bring in three runs as the Cubs clubbed Colusa 13-1.
At the Big League Dreams in the Shasta Lake Bass Easter Classic last week the Cubs finished 3-1 as an “at-large entry.” Twenty-two teams played in the spring break school recess.
Anderson, last year’s Northern Section Division II runner-ups, had Cody McCary hit a 400-foot, three-run home run in the third inning. Anderson was not officially competing in the tournament because of an administrative glitch but did play four games in the annual classic.
Anderson had also gone against Truckee with a 12-2 win. McCary threw a complete game and Kody Kraft went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.
The West Valley team beat Etna 9-4 as Jared Frye struck out five players. Roy Button had three hits and two RBIs. The Eagles took on the Sutter Huskies on Friday.
In the West Valley Las Plumas game, the Eagles had 11 as Las Plumas came up with 3. Roy Button had three RBIs and Garhett Parent had a two-run home run. Luke Westaby had the win for the Eagles.
Yesterday the Cubs played Yreka in Yreka.
