Editor:
I live in the newly constructed Jerry Knighten subdivision next to the property in question (the 56 acres south of Dan Gamel). I have grave concerns about an auto mall at this location. Mr. Maxwell’s 107-acre development at Knighton and Churn Creek had a significant buffer zone and green belt to shield it from the residents. He would be forced to squeeze it into far fewer acres which suggests the reductions would be in the buffer between our houses and the project. Trying to squeeze that large-scale commercial into that piece of property would not be smart planning. Is there not a place behind Safeway which would not be so cramped for space and away from residential areas to lessen the impacts?
I would also like to know what the current zoning is for the property being proposed for the auto mall. Is it commercial or residential? If it is commercial, when was the zoning changed. Thank you.
