Tough competition at track meet

At the Anderson – Corning – West Valley track meet last Wednesday, the competition for first places in the shot put and discus continued as West Valley’s junior Andy Miller had a 47-feet 1-inch throw to Jake Fuller’s 43-9. In the discus, senior Fuller tossed the discus 165-10 to Miller’s 135-09. The high jump saw Anderson’s Cody McNamara with a 6-foot and then he had a second in the triple jump with 37.1

In the varsity girls pole vault, West Valley’s Jessie Bailey went over the bar at 7-feet 6-inches followed by teammate Halie Linschoten at 6-feet 6-inches.

In the varsity boys 100-meter run West Valley’s Anthony Oliva ran it in 11.39 and teammate Tanner Schaeffer in11.87. Anderson’s Chad Dunlap was third with a 12.14.

In the varsity girls 100-meter run West Valley took the first three places with Amanda Oliva at 13.42, Stephanie Alward at 13.49 and Rachelle Russell at 13.61. In the 200 run Amanda Oliva repeated her win with a 28.74.

The varsity girls 400 meter run had sophomores Katie Jungwirth with a 1:04 and Halie Linschoten with a 1:06.

Bradley Grove from Anderson won the 3200 meter run in 14:49.

The 100 high hurdles for varsity girls went to Stephanie Alward with 17.02 followed by Nichole Barry with 19.19. The same results were for the 300 lows with Alward at 49.40 and Barry at 53.44.

The 4x100 varsity girls relay team made up of Rachelle Russell, Stephanie Alward, Halie Linschoten and Amanda Oliva came in at 57.81.
