Man arrested, threatened to shoot Anderson victim, dog, and self

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to 5710 Balls Ferry, Anderson on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 8 p.m. regarding a man threatening someone with a handgun. Deputies arrived and learned that George Barnes was arguing with an undisclosed victim.

During the argument, Barnes produced a large caliber handgun, pointed it at the victim and said he was going to kill the victim, their dog, and then himself.

Barnes was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked into Shasta County jail for attempted homicide, threatening criminal intent, and corporal injury of spouse. He is held on $500,000 bail.
