Caleb Byrne

Caleb Byrne

Caleb Byrne moved to Shasta County with his family three years ago from Fullerton, California.

Byrne is a substitute teacher, basketball coach and a server at Gironda’s Italian Restaurant in Redding. He has been substitute teaching in the area for approximately one year.

Byrne wants to become a full-time teacher because he enjoys watching the students learn and seeing the reactions on their faces when they finally understand something new.

“I like to work with the kids; sometimes they are pretty funny,” said Byrne.

For Byrne, who has been playing basketball on school teams since he was in fifth grade, coaching was a natural progression. Byrne coaches seventh grade basketball at Happy Valley Elementary. This is his first year coaching basketball but it is something he’s wanted to do for a long time.

“At some point in the near future, I would like to become a full-time teacher and coach high school basket ball, but that could always change,” said Byrne.

After graduating from Troy High School in 1999, Bryne attended Cal-State Fullerton and earned his degree in Liberal Arts.

In his spare time, you can always find Byrne out on the basket ball court shooting hoops. He also enjoys playing any type of sports, video games, watching movies, talking with friends and spending quality time with his family.
