Sharon Lonie of Happy Valley, moved to Shasta County sixteen years ago from Canada to help her husband David run their printing shop. The Lonie’s have owned North Cal Printing for 17 years.

Lonie helps with the day-to-day operations of the shop making digital copies, business cards, stamps, stocking the shop and managing the books.

Many different items can be produced at North Cal Printing. With the new technology that has become available in the printing industry, most of the equipment is now digital. The new technology allows for multiple uses and fast turn-around. A large job can be picked up by the customer within a day, if not less, after the proof has been read. “We can make vinyl banners, full color copies, and can even print, fold and staple with only the push of a few buttons,” said Lonie. “We also have a wide printer, that we can use to make posters and display boards for court cases.”

The older off-set printers are now only used for printing carbon-less copies and book making. Return customers at North Cal Printing make up the majority of the business. “We still have customers that come in from when my husband David first bought the shop,” said Lonie, “ It is always nice to see them.”

Lonie enjoys the North State, for its quiet, country feel and the people are not in a big hurry to go places. She enjoys getting up early on her days off and spending time out in her garden working on her plants. She also enjoys time on their boat, sitting in the sun with a good book, revamping their house and spending time with her grandchildren.

Lonie attended high school in Montreal, Canada and graduated in 1965. “In Canada, you only have to attend high school until you are 16 years old,” said Lonie. “It is different than here in the states.”

North Cal Printing is located at 2984 East Street in Anderson.
