HERE I GO AGAIN: At the Shasta District Fair, Jaylynn Trotter goes for a ride on a horse that only turned left.

Amid 100-plus degree weather, this year’s Shasta District Fair drew an attendance of approximately 86,900. This figure, although not the final count, is slightly under last year’s attendance of 88,000. According to CEO of the Shasta District Fair Chris Workman, the fair had an “absolutely wonderful year.”

She said that musical act SheDaisy, the Clydesdales and the baboon show were the most popular events this year.

Workman said the concessionaires reported 20 percent lower sales than in previous years.

“The article in the Record Searchlight last Tuesday was a killer for concessions,” she said.

The article listed several ways for a family to save money and still enjoy the fair.

The Junior Livestock Auction made $750,000 compared to $832,000 last year. Workman said that she expected to see the amount fall, since the auction sales had only increased over the last several years.
