Staci Gaylor: Lone Tree 4-H Beef Leader
Staci Gaylor was born and raised in Shasta County and has spent her entire life around cattle ranching. Gaylor participated in FFA (Future Farmers of America) at Anderson High School with her first steer winning Grand Champion at the Shasta District Fair and her second steer, Reserve Grand Champion.
Besides her day job at R&R RV sales as a sales person, she is the beef leader for Lone Tree 4-H in Anderson. In her 4-H group, Gaylor works with four members that are raising steer for the Shasta District Fair.
“These animals are a 10-month project and take a lot of work and dedication by the kids,” said Gaylor.
Gaylor takes the participating students to two required events each year — Ag Field Day and Judging Day at Shasta College.
Gaylor also helps with FFA and 4-H fundraisers each year. The group also puts together food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas for people in the local area.
Gaylor’s main focus is to see that the students are able to take a quality steer to fair and to make sure that they are learning new things and having fun. Gaylor works with the students during the entire process of showing their animals.
“4-H is a great family function to get involved in. It teaches the kids responsibility, respect and keeps them headed in the right direction in life. It is also a great way to spend quality time with family. There is so much more to 4-H than just showing animals,” said Gaylor.
Gaylor has been the Lone Tree 4-H beef leader for two years and would like to see the kids continue growing with their projects and with new 4-H experiences.
In her spare time, Gaylor likes to spend quality time with her three children. She enjoys riding horses and in the fall, coaching soccer for the younger division players that play for Anderson Youth Soccer. Gaylor plans to keep working with 4-H members and teaching them as much as she can about raising their animals.
