Cody Stevens, Anderson New Technology High School As a junior at New Technology, Stevens was nominated “for his outstanding positive attitude, work ethic and consideration of others,” said art teacher Michelle Boydstun. “He spends a lot of time working and perfecting his expertise using various digital media programs and then gladly volunteers to help others in the digital media class,” she added. On campus, Stevens participates in the annual blanket drive and, when off campus, he enjoys barbecuing steaks when he is not golfing or drumming. With one more year to go at New Tech, Cody plans to attend Shasta College to complete his general education before transferring to a four-year university.
Lori Heath, West Valley High School “Lori is such a responsible, conscientious student. We would all be proud if our own children turned out like she has,” said Home Economics Teacher Delaine Smith. This 12th grade student has been a part of Smith’s program for three years and is an “A” student according to Smith. “She works very hard for the school in many important ways, never misses a deadline, and can be depended upon 100 percent,” Smith said. When Heath was a sophomore, she worked every day helping Special Day Class students in the Life Skills class with their daily assignments.This yearbook staff member also catered over 500 deserts last fall for the school’s play.She is considering a career in pharmacy and will attend Shasta College next fall. When not in school she enjoys riding quads or working at her after school job at Baja Burrito.
Jose Luis Melendez, Anderson High School Jose is bi-lingual and “wants to understand everything,” said Carol Perea who nominated Melendez. “He puts lots of time in on his studies and encourages his friends to do their homework and work hard in their classes,” said Perea. “He is a dedicated and hard working student and is an excellent role model,” she continued. “Jose Luis is a living example of Ben Franklin’s quote ‘Well done is better than well said.’ He demonstrates modesty, yet is proud. He does what he says and is never boastful,” Perea added. This soccer-loving senior would like to go to college and study business while attaining his dream of becoming a professional soccer player.
