South Shasta Model Railroad is a ¼-inch scale model replica of Southern Pacific Railroad as it ran from Gerber to Dunsmuir. The model represents the era of the 1940s, including steam locomotives and equipment of the time.

Godfrey Humann, the model railroad’s creator, has invested 30,000 hours of labor over 57 years to create the detail of track, train station and people.

Humann puts on shows that include the operation of the model railroad and a tour of the outdoor museum. During the tour, visitors will learn how historic steam equipment and harvesters worked.

Groups of 12 to 70 may visit the model railroad and museum in Gerber by calling 385-1389 to make an appointment. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
