Singing groups in 1860s costumes and accompanied by a fife and drum corps wearing Union uniforms provided music amidst the roar of cannon fire for several hundred Shasta County students witnessing a Civil War reenactment last Friday at Anderson River Park.

Some students sat in temporary bleachers to watch a cannon firing by Union troops “attacking” the Confederacy. Other students and teachers walked to the various soldier camps to learn about the 150-year-old battle that was explained by actors dressed in period costumes.
