GARDEN PARTY: Visitors tour the Autumn Garden Party put on by Anderson Heights Elementary School students.

A rain-soaked week did not discourage members of the community from visiting the outdoor garden and classroom on the campus of the Anderson Heights Elementary School last Thursday.

Cascade Union School District Board of Education members, the superintendent of the district, Dr. Wesley Smith, faculty and student guides and members of various garden clubs visited the site.

Prior to the student-escorted trip to the outdoor garden, classroom photographs and a PowerPoint presentation allowed visitors to see the progress of the garden classroom since it began in 2005.

A concentrically designed series of flower beds will allow visitors to be able to walk to the paved block center of the garden when all the beds are completed as planned.

Raised flower and vegetable beds, done by various classes, are in the same fenced-off area of the school’s playing fields as the outdoor classroom.

For more information on visiting the outdoor garden, contact Mary Casady at Anderson Heights Elementary School at 378-7050.
