Perspective: Packed with possibilities
Talk about a lively week – South County had a nonstop and often overlapping lineup of events. From the Salmon Festival to FFA dinners to a Cottonwood “mayor” fundraiser to the Teen Center opening celebration, the excitement never ended. There are probably not a few weary event organizers and volunteers, not to mention participants trying to recover this week.
To see what happened around South County, please visit our photo galleries at www.andersonvalleypost.com. Michael Woodward, our reporter who covered as much ground as possible on Saturday, has lots of great photos online.
If you have any pangs of guilt from indulging in salmon, chili or steak, you can walk them off at the Autumn Walkathon sponsored by the Cottonwood Community Library this Saturday. Blast off is at 9 a.m. at the West Cottonwood School track. After the walk, you’ll have time to drop off those old vehicle tires at the tire recycling event at the Shasta District Fairground.
You may have noticed that we have begun using a short version of the community events in the paper. It’s not that we are shortening our list, but that we are publishing the full-length version on our Web site, under “Lifestyles.” As always, we invite you to submit items to us so we can include them. If you don’t see them in the paper, they’re probably online getting exposure to the larger electronically-connected community.
The big news is that Alex Shannon of Anderson won in the slalom and his age group category for the North State Skate Series. Seventeen-year-old Shannon competed in the three skateboard events of the series for the wins. He beat eight competitors in his age group and should be proud of his accomplishments. Congratulations, Alex, and skate on!
