Ethan Ostrom and Andy Miller scored on runs and quarterback Josh Barrett had two touchdown throws to give the Northern Athletic League title back to West Valley last Friday night.
The West Valley Eagles went 57 yards in the opening minutes with Ostrom going in from the three-yard line.
The Yreka quarterback Kyson Culp had the lone touchdown pass for the Miners when they tied the game in the first quarter. Culp threw to Andrew Ward for the score.
West Valley went through the Yreka defense over 50 times for 253 yards and they were all short runs.
The linemen, with Al Doiron at right tackle and Ryan Russell at right guard, Vince Kurland at left tackle and Nick Kurland at left guard and Ryan Robinson at center, contained the Miners throughout the game, making the holes for the backs to go through. Ethan Ostrom had 72 yards on 12 carries and Nick Johnston had 50 yards on 11 rushes. Miller had 42 for 12, Scott Kinyon 35 for 7 and Bobby Guyton 41 for 7 through those holes.
Barrett threw to Ostrom on a 44-yard touchdown pass and then to Guyton on a 20-yard TD pass.
Miller ran for a two-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. West Valley is now 4-0 in the NAL and 6-3 overall.
