New fire chief chosen for Anderson

The Anderson Fire Protection District Board of Directors announced today that Joe Piccinini has accepted the position offer of Fire Chief for the district, effective Oct. 15.

Piccinini joins the district after serving as Chief Officer and Chief of Finance and Communications for the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma Fire Department.

He joined the Tulsa Fire Department in 1985, where he served as fire captain, chief intern, district battalion chief, as well as division chief.

Piccinini was born and raised in Santa Rosa, Calif., and has family in the immediate area. Butch Schaefer, Anderson fire district board chairman, said that on behalf of the board, he looks forward to having Piccinini join the fire department and asks the community welcome him to the area, along with his wife, Barbara and their daughter Stephanie.

Wonderful! There is a new fire chief in town. Now we can move forward and start working on how the protection district should really work! Work on the district and where and how the funds should come form. Maybe joining forces with the city would be the best for everyone.
