Breshears leaves Cascade school board

Rhonda Breshears has resigned her position on the Cascade Union Elementary School District (CUESD) board of trustees citing personal reasons.

In Nov. 2007, Breshears was successfully reelected to the CUESD board and has served as board president during the past year.

For the past five years Breshears had been “an advocate for quality education with responsible cost concerns, and has done a wonderful job during some ‘very challenging times’ in the district,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Wesley Smith about Breshears leaving the board.

“But I do care about individuals and I understand her concern for her family.”

Breshears said that when she was reelected to the District’s Governing Board she could not have known what was in store for her and the “unforeseen toll it would take on myself, my family and my health.”

Breshears said, “If I had known prior to the election process of these circumstances I now find myself in, I honestly would not have sought reelection for the position at all.” She said her choice did not come easily and it was “one of the most difficult choices I have had to face.” She said she will always be a devoted supporter of the Cascade School District and “It has been an honor to serve along side my fellow board members as a community representative to the CUESD.”

“I would like to show my appreciation of our school district staff, by saying, I believe without a doubt that there is not a stronger more caring group of School District Employees collectively to be found then those within our very own district.”
