Woman arrested on drug charges

Shasta Interagency Task Force (SINTF) served two simultaneous methamphetamine warrants July 31, resulting in the seizure of two grams of crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale and the arrests of James Ira McCooey, 32, of Redding, and Savannah Jean Strickland, 20, of Anderson.

SINTF agents believe McCooey and Strickland were involved in the street-level distribution of crystal methamphetamine.

Officials searched the residences of both McCooey, 430 Lake Blvd., Apt. 1, Redding, and Strickland, 3249 Briarwood Drive, Apt. D, in Anderson.

At McCooey’s apartment, agents seized two grams of crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale, scales, packaging material and a loaded firearm. Strickland was found in McCooey’s apartment with a gram of methamphetamine concealed in her bra. No contraband was located at her residence.

McCooey was charged for possession of controlled substance for sale, maintaining a place for unlawfully providing a controlled substance, felony probation and unlawful possession of a firearm. Strickland was charged for possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were booked into Shasta County Jail.
