El Paraiso opens, joins plethora of Mexican restaurants in Anderson

FERNANDO ROMO

Despite the company of several other Anderson restaurants with Mexican menus, manager Fernando Romo said his new restaurant would stand out. Romo and his father Nemecio Romo opened El Paraiso, 3310 W. Center St. Anderson, on July 12.

“We’re doing fine,” Romo said when asked about the plethora of competitors with serving Mexican fare in Anderson. “We’re full for lunch and dinner; we’re busier than I thought we’d be.”

Romo said his restaurant makes authentic tacos, with cilantro, onion and salsa, but he added that customers could request lettuce, cheese, and sour cream if it’s preferred.

“That’s no problem,” he said, “but 90 percent of the customers like our style.”

He said customers also like his fresh tomato salsa as well as the enchilada sauce, which he said, is a family recipe and not from a can.

Romo was born in Guanajota, Mex., and grew up in Anderson and Cottonwood. Romo graduated from Anderson Union High School in 1999. His father also owns a mobile taco stand, Romo’s Tacos.

We had dinner there the other night and it was wonderful. Great service and a good menu. We will certainly go back.

C4, that was a pretty cheap shot! I may not be hispanic, but those in our community that are, are actually some pretty nice people! I haven't eaten there yet, but I am sure it is som pretty good grub!
