Anderson New Technology High School got a $5,000 PG&E “Bright Ideas“ grant for innovative solar science projects.

The purpose of the grant is to educate and inspire future leaders about the importance of renewable energy and environmental stewardship.

Anderson’s New Technology will incorporate the new solar panel into their education curriculum.

“It’s going to be used by the science students to look at the benefits of solar panels,” New Technology High School principal Pat Allison said. “Students can look at how it works, take measurements and find out how energy is transformed from the sun into energy we can use.”

More New Tech news

In addition to the installation of the solar panel, Anderson New Technology students will have a new office in the front lobby. A new half-time English teacher has been hired to replace Charlie Kennedy who is now a program coordinator at the District office. And New Tech Students will have the option of bus transportation this year.

Back to School Night, an event for parents and students to learn more about what the year has in store, will be on Sept. 17.
