Corey Merrill, 31, of Happy Valley was arrested on the evening of Jan. 22 for shooting his shotgun from inside his mobile home at the Olinda Mobile Home Park. Sheriff's deputies responded to the residence with a hostage negotiator to communicate with Merrill over a loud speaker. Sheriffs identified that Merrill was inside with both a shotgun and a pistol.
Merrill refused to leave the residence when requested by the deputies.
When Merrill did exit the trailer, he still possessed the shotgun and paced in front of his mobile home. When the hostage negotiator convinced Merrill to put down the firearms, Merrill was arrested for discharging a firearm with gross negligence and resisting arrest.
