Today I write this article with a heavy heart for the passing of another of our long time members of the Anderson Historical Society, David Dubose.
Many of us remember him as our instructor in Agriculture and Environmental Conservation from Shasta College and his love of California Native Plants.
He and his wife, Sandy, helped in so many ways in helping to establish our Museum. Dave’s donation of so many plants for our Yard Sales; his help in obtaining information from Shasta College for our past exhibits and enlightenment of Agriculture in Shasta County
Such interesting and enjoyable times with him interviewing our aged ranching pioneers about their lives and problems in early times. His humor and range of questions that opened up people’s memories of times past. Modes of travel, moving herds of cattle and sheep to different areas of the North State. Discussions on range conditions, native grasses and the invasion of different types of thistles and weeds to our North State which have spread through out the area and effects they have had on our pasture lands.
May his memory live on in the many lectures he has given and the very interesting native plant gardens that he has helped develop for individuals and agencies. How I had looked forward to the book he was writing on early Agriculture in our area.
Sandy has such an interesting native plant garden at their ranch on Parkville road for her memories, which she helped him develop.
Thanks Dave, for the many memories and educational information you passed on to so many generations of students and individuals.
