Dawn is breaking and as I look over the farm I give thanks to God for leading me to Happy Valley. Come this August I will have been here 40 years. It seems just like yesterday we arrived here. Would I change anything? I don’t think so. This is where God wanted me, thank you very much.
Has Happy Valley changed over the years. Of course, but there is still the same community spirit, same involvement of people working together to keep our community vibrant, safe and rural.
One such person is Barbara Jackson. She has been working to get a park out here. Received an e-mail from her and thought I would pass it on.
The Board of Supervisors passed two items unanimously. The Board approved the acceptance of a grant award from the McConnell Foundation for an amount not to exceed $50,000 for the project entitled “Shasta County Parks, Trails and Open Space Plan”. Second the board approved and authorized the chairman to sign an agreement with Moore Lacofano Goltsman, Inc,. In an amount not to exceed $100,000 to prepare a plan for community parks, multi-use trails, bikeways and open space within the unincorporated areas of Shasta County for the Period July 1, 2008 through June 0, 2009
I would love to see walking and horse trails in Happy Valley.
Other persons who gives a lot of their time is Ermel and Marjorie Jones. Ermel started the Happy Valley Volunteer Citizens Patrol which now has 25 members and still growing. Want to make a difference in our community give Ermel a call at 357-33829 and join.
Colleen Wogoman volunteers at the Happy Valley Elementary teaching children about farming and how to conserve water and grow plants.
I know there are some who are never mention I do not know who you are but except my thanks for the many hours you give so unselfishly.
I would like to close with this prayer it was sent to me by my brother whose son Peter is in the army. “Lord please hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.”
