Cottonwood Community Library offered the second week of its popular Summer Reading Program with guest presenters Shae Music, Carolyn Gomes and her daughter Lauren Gomes. With a program emphasizing healthy eating and exercise, the Curves crew passed around baskets of plastic fruit and vegetables, then read a book that helped children identify the various fruits and vegetables. Another story about organized soccer games engaged all the children, too. After reading, the children and parents went outside for some exercise, hula-hooping and jump-roping.

The Cottonwood Fire Protection District was responsible for the first Summer Story Time on Wednesday, June 18.

Rob Carlson read to the large crowd of 78 children and 40 adults.

Mark Ratledge gave each child a chance to hold the fire hose.
