Christopher Donald Miller, 41, of Redding, was arrested Monday for allegedly robbing the U.S. Bank in Redding Monday at 1:10 p.m.
Redding police officers learned that the suspect entered the bank and presented a demand note to the teller for money.
Receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the bank southbound through an alley.
Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, between 20 and 30 years of age, six feet tall, 200 pounds and with blonde hair, wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans.
The subject was reported as driving a peach colored sedan.
Redding police contacted the Anderson Police Department with the information, including the tip that the suspect had unsuccessfully attempted to get a motel room in Redding.
The APD determined that someone matching the description had checked into the Valley Inn Motel on McMurry Drive at 2 p.m.
The officers located the suspect driving in the area of North Street and I-5. They conducted a traffic stop and apprehended Miller without incident.
Miller was arrested for robbery as well as attempted robbery, as investigators said Miller had entered Umpqua Bank a few minutes earlier with intent to rob.
Miller is in custody at Shasta County Jail on a $50,000 bail.
