I can’t respond to your weekly poll online because my computer is 13 years old and was born without any ‘on-line.’ However, I would like to weigh in with the simple reason why the term ‘marriage’ must be reserved to and for heterosexual couples.
Marriage laws were made to protect the weaker members of our society: first, the women, who had to have their rights enforced in marriage; and secondly, for the support and rearing of the children produced in these unions.
The marriage laws, customs and advantages — tax or otherwise — are designed to promote, encourage and foster the best care possible of women and children. The family is the basis of our civilized society.
No union or legal association under any articles of law can be allowed to take the place of marriage, as none but those who engage in an heterosexual union can procreate.
Worn out old buzzards such as I remember when there was such a thing as ‘common law marriage.’ A man and a woman cohabiting and reproducing without the marriage license were, after an interval, legally recognized as being just as married as those who had a cathedral wedding with a bishop officiating. If you question my memory, just ask your old-timer’s maven, Winnie Maker. I do not doubt but that she can cite a number of examples from her years of living in the mining and ranching districts where ministers and justices were few and far between in the early years of our West.

The most obvious evidence that the Lord and people, oppose homosexuality marraige is that it is simply unnatural. Two men or two women together, goes against the natural sexual expression of human beings. God created marraige, as a covenant relationship between a woman and man. Sure there were other marraige services preformed by man before pagan god's, but in this country the Christian Marraige has been the norm since its formation.
Another reason is the family unit. A man and woman together produce children, the family unit then becomes a means of protection, security, and love. Any other type of family is artificial and unnatural! Homosexuality stops pocreation and destroys the family unit. Homosexuality is unnatural! This isn't a hate statement but the plain and simple truth! You tell someone the truth about homosexuality, and they'll try to paint you as homophobic. But again, the simple truth is its unnatural!
1 Corinthians (6:9) uses the word "effeminate," which is a Greek word specifically meaning "sodomite" or "male homosexual prostitute." It does not merely refer to a man with feminine qualities like we use it today. 1 Timothy (1:10) uses the phrase, "....them that defile themselfs with mankind,..." The Greek word used in this verse is "arsenokoitais," and means " male homosexuals." Referring back to 1 Corinthians (6:9), this same Greek word was also originally used in place of the phrase,"..abusers of themselves with mankind." Therefore, " arsenokoites," more specifically refers to "abusers," or "to be guilty of unnatural offenses; a sodomite; a homosexual; a sex pervert."
The question is, " why are some churches going against God's Word of Truth and trying to bless something God calls an Abomination?" They will answer for this on JUDGMENT DAY!
