4-H CHAMPION SHOWMANSHIP MARKET LAMB:Charity Gunn, Palo Cedro 4-H, sold her award-winning sheep to Shasta County Supervisor Glenn Hawes during the Junior Livestock Auction at the Shasta District Fair.

GRAND CHAMPION MARKET SWINE/4-H CHAMPION SWINE:Travis Vasquez of West Valley 4-H received a top bid of $11 per pound for his prize-winning pig when it was purchased by Redding Roofing Supply.

The Shasta Regional Community Foundation recently announced 44 scholarships awarded to students in Shasta, Siskiyou and Trinity Counties. $62,500 was awarded to students to fund a trade school, community college or university education. The scholarships were based on community service, grades, financial need, extra-curricular activities and more. The following are the names of those South County students who received scholarships. (Please note: the school named is the student’s most recent school):

Northern Business Associates Scholarship:

* April Perkins, Anderson New Technology High, $250

* Brooke Davis, West Valley High, $250

* Taylor Samuels, West Valley High, $250

North Valley Bank Scholarship:

* Shenade Cervantes, Anderson High, $500

* Taylor Samuels, West Valley High, $500

Women in Medicine Scholarship:

* Marissa Smith, Anderson Union High, $3,000

* Elizabeth Alanis, Anderson New Technology High, $3,000
