Happy Valley Pride

Here at the farm we celebrate July 4 with cook-offs. A talent show, the Pledge of Allegience to the flag, the song God Bless America and, of course, swimming. This year, the kids outdid the adults in the cooking and talent show categories. My grandson, Joshua, made a peanut butter s’more and even homemade the marshmallow. It was awesome.

Granddaughter Allisa and grandson Kevin came up with a rap song. Kevin came up with the sounds but Allisa wrote the words. I was so impressed with it I wanted to share the lyrics with you and when she gets older she can say she got published.

Fourth of July comes once a year.

Everyone is hanging out and drinking beer.

While Hannah and Amber are planning a scheme,

the kids play games on a team

There’s a lot of food that’s not rare

Then we gather round and say prayers.

There’s a lot of things to do on the farm,

like play, pick berries and have a ball

Squirt guns, water balloons, water fights

we all have fun that’s just right

Trenerry Berry Farm is the place to be,

I hope you had fun listening to me.

Hannah and Amber are both age 2. They are cousins, but they act more like sisters. They want to do everything the older kids do. We have decided Amber will be in races when she grows up because she runs everywhere and Hannah will be a ballerina because she dances on her toes. When she comes to the farm, she jumps out of the car, twirls around and around trying to decide whether to swing, ride the train, see the chickens, go swim or play hide and seek. It’s cute to watch her. On the other hand, Amber always knows what she wants, and that usually means that it’s time to swim.

We didn’t have too many people here this year. Sometimes we’ve had up to 45 people, but this year we only had 18 so it was a little bit more sedate.

The Happy Valley Farm Trail is going to have a Bingo Run in September. We already have gathered some prizes and the farmers are excited. As we get closer to the event, I will give out more information.

So that is it for the week. Please ask the Lord to help us put out those fires, keep our firefighters safe and bless America. Recycle and make a new friend today.
