CLOSE CALL: Judges measure a close play in a bocce tournament.

A pasta feed, bocce tournament and raffles highlight the return of Paesano Days to the Anderson River Park, 2800 Rupert Rd., on August 1-2.

The family festival, sponsored by the Sons of Italy Shasta Lodge, begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday with the pasta feed followed closely by the start of the bocce tournament at 6 p.m. Liquid refreshments, some food concessions and traditional music by Lou White and his band round out the evening.

On Saturday, the bocce games begin at 10 a.m. with food concessions and craft vendors. On Saturday evening, a barbecue will be held as the raffles winners are awarded. The grand prize in the raffle is the Napa Valley wine train with dinner and lodging in a fine hotel.

The festival will continue on Sunday to conclude the bocce tournament.

The Sons of Italy donate about $12,000 each year to a variety of local causes and organizations: Mosquito Serenade, Make a Wish Foundation, Relay for Life, Alzheimer’s Disease research, and Sober Grad.
