Summer crunch time for high school players

Schools out. Students are enjoying their summer. And for local high school football players, this is the time is to get back in the game.

Anderson Union High School and West Valley High School football players have been attending training camps, lifting weights, running and other physical activity to get themselves in shape and ready for the for the upcoming football season.

Both football teams have attended training camps, and both have one more summer camp. With only a month left for before the football season begins, it’s crunch time.

The Anderson Cubs high school football team will have training camp on their home field July 28 throughAug. 1 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Freshman football camp will be held Aug. 4 to Aug. 8.

“We are just going to get things cleaned up and start preparing for the beginning of the season,” coach Lance Gosch said.

The West Valley Eagles football training camp will be July 27 to Aug. 1 at Shepherd’s Camp in Whitmore, Cali.

“It’s a big deal,” coach Greg Grandell said. “That’s our black shirt camp, we call it, where we pick our starting team.”
