Aquagators take second at invitational

The Anderson Aquagators easily took second place at their Invitational at West Valley High school.

“It was a great meet. Our swimmers really swam hard and fast, warmed-up and warmed-down a lot, and bonded some more,” Aquagators Coach Marc Soares said.

Soares said both he and his young swimmers are lucky to be backed by a group of supportive parents.

“Our parents are awesome — from the parent relay teams, encouraging our kids, and working hard and smoothly all weekend—our swimmers are fortunate. It was like a big ol’ party,” he said.

First place high point winners were Taylor Moebes, Gabe Deckert, Matt Bohlin, and Ridge Peterson.

Second place high point winners were Eric James, Ashley Moebes, Laney Owens, Destry Serna and Chris James.

Third place high-point winners were Katie Veatch, Michael Chalfant, Travis Serna, Taylor Serna, Haley Moebes and Bryce Peterson.

The Aquagators seasonal championship meet will be Aug. 1-3 at Shasta College. They will have 63 swimmers competing – the highest number of Aquagator competitors in the championship to date.

“There’s a good chance Anderson will win the seasonal championship for the 3rd straight year, against 10 other teams,” Soares said.
