Meeting to discuss proposed diesel regulations

Owners of diesel fueled vehicles are invited to participate in workshops to discuss proposed regulation to reduce emissions from heavy-duty on-road and off-road diesel vehicles. To assist fleet owners with their compliance efforts, Air Resources Board (ARB) staff is conducting a series of statewide training seminars on the on-road and off-road regulation.

ARB will be holding twelve 4-hour long seminars that will run July 22, 2008 through September 12, 2008 throughout the state of California. These training seminars will provide an in depth presentation of the regulation and how to comply, a discussion of record keeping and vehicle labeling requirements, a review of exhaust retrofit products available, and information about grant opportunities. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to speak one-on-one with providers of exhaust retrofit devices.

This will also be the last series of workshops before the proposed regulation will be considered by the board on October 23, 2008. The public is invited to comment on the proposed regulation at the workshops. At the workshops, staff plans to provide an overview of the proposed regulation and to discuss the associated costs and emissions benefits.

• On-road: July 28, 12-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., at Shasta County Board of Supervisors Chambers, 1450 Court St., Ste. 263, in Redding.

• Off-road: August 7, 1-5 p.m. at Redding Memorial Veterans Hall, 1605 Yuba St., Redding.
