Rotary hosts blood drive

Blood donors who show up Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Frontier Senior Center in Anderson will each receive a free tri-tip dinner and a coupon for a free pint of Baskin-Robbins ice cream.

The blood drive is scheduled from 4 p.m.–7 p.m. in the senior center, 2031 Frontier Trail, behind Anderson New Technology High School.

Giving blood is easy, safe and takes less than one hour, but only about 5 percent of the estimated 38 percent of eligible Americans do it, a BloodSource spokeswoman said.

To give blood, you must be in generally good health, free from cold symptoms for at least 48 hours; be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with parental consent; and weigh at least 110 pounds. There is no upper age limit for donating blood. Prospective donors must bring a photo ID.
