$1.3M embezzlement case begins for Fiske

Woman arraigned in district court, accused of taking $1.3 million

An Anderson woman accused of embezzling more than $1.3 million from an Anderson construction company was arraigned Wednesday in U.S. District Court on a federal mail fraud charge.

Nancy Frances Fiske, 57, pleaded not guilty and is free on her own recognizance, said a prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Stegman, who is prosecuting the case, alleges that Fiske defrauded Jerry L. Knighten Construction Inc. of about $1.35 million from December 2001 to June 2007.

Fiske worked for the company for about 12 years as a bookkeeper, controller and office manager.
