Grants Pass won the sixth annual Anderson Cubs Classic this past weekend. This is the third straight time they have taken the West Valley High School softball team. Saturday’s score was 11-0 in the four-inning final at Big League Dreams park in Redding.

The Oregon team had played four games and didn’t give up a run in any of their games. On Friday they did not give up any runs.

Eagle Cassidy Olsen was not in the line up because she had broken her (non-pitching) hand. Nikki Feuerbach did have a single but teammates could not bring her home.

The Eagles beat the first team they had played on Friday, Union Mine, to get to the game with Grants Pass on Saturday.

Bayley Bowman was named tournament offensive MVP. She had singled and doubled in the Eagle 8-1 win over Arcata. Cierra Rovera threw a five-inning two-hitter against the Tigers.

Cassidy Olson did play with a glove that fit over her cast and did get six innings of pitching against Foothill. Feuerbach and Amanda Buchanan had doubles in the 4-2 West Valley win.

Olson came into the Union Mine game when the two teams were tied at 5 to take the win. Olson struck out the first 11 hitters she faced.
