Church sponsors free Gospel concert
A free concert featuring Rick Price, a Gospel Music Hall of Fame member and a former lead singer for the legendary Blackwood Brothers Quartet, will be presented at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 17, by Cottonwood Assembly of God, 20404 Gas Point Road, Cottonwood.
Performing as “Blackwood Legacy,” Price and James Blackwood formed a tribute show to honor the legendary Blackwood Brothers.
Price joined the Blackwood Brothers in the late 1970s and assumed management of the group when Cecil Blackwood grew sick and was unable to travel.
Known as one of the best emcees in gospel music, Price’s sense of humor, love for ministry and love for music as well as his sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit is evident as he takes you from fond memories of yesterday into a place of worship, renewal and recommitment to serving Christ, said church pastor Bob Whitman.
“To do justice to the original Blackwood Brothers, Rick has surrounded himself with some of the greatest singers and musicians in Gospel Music today,” Whitman stated. “Rick is honored to carry on the great Blackwood Brothers heritage with his own Blackwood Legacy, presenting the band’s music with integrity and pride.”
Performing with Rick Price are vocalist Beulah Land, Luke Yates — gospel music’s newest piano sensation and Allie Taylor.
The church is located a third of a mile west of Interstate 5 on Gas Point Road.
