Officers from the Anderson Police Department went to a Lodgepole Avenue residence Saturday evening, Oct. 4, while responding to reports of an intoxicated man shooting a firearm.
The officers arrived at 6:46 p.m. and found Joseph Vultaggio, 24, of Anderson attempting to jump a fence into the back yard of the property, reported Officer Mathew Goodwin.
Vultaggio, who was on felony probation in Shasta County, confirmed that there was a firearm at the residence. He also told officers the gun was in the possession of another man still in the residence, Goodwin's report states.
Officers then contacted the occupant, Anderson resident Jon Delarosa, 39, also on Shasta County probation and searched the house where they located a .22 caliber rifle and some ammunition, the report continues.
Both men were determined to be under the influence of alcohol, a parole violation, and were also placed under arrest for being felons in possession of a firearm, Goodwin wrote.
Under further questioning, Delarosa told officers he had just driven to the residence in his intoxicated state shortly after completing a day of work at the Shasta County Detention Annex for a previous DUI conviction, the report states.
Vultaggio and Delarosa were each booked at the Shasta County Jail for being felons in possession of a firearm and probation violation. Delarosa was also booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, Goodwin's report concludes.
