We were just waking up in the morning and had on one of the news shows. As soon as we learned what happened, we prayed for those in the towers and those fighting the fires. We left on a vacation to Vancouver Island (Canada) later that day and were overwhelmed by the love and caring of the folks in Victoria. There is a memorial to Canadian soldiers on the corner of the Provincial Capitol grounds and it was covered with flowers with more being brought throughout the day (this two days after 9-11). Very moving.

When I had heard that the towers had been bombed, I spent quite a bit of time debating on whether or not to pull all four of my children out of school for the day to keep our family close in case something happended here in the North State. Shasta Dam was the one possible areas here that could have been a terrorist target. I also took the time to pray for our country and the people that were effected by the bombing. I have friends that are in the fire service that live all over the nation and friends in the military. After the kids were home from school, we spent time together watching the news on television. It was really sad to watch this happen to our country. Our youngest girls really didn't understand what was happening and why. It was a true blessing that our fire fighters, police officers and military were able to pull together to search for survivors and recover those that were lost. In our eyes, they will never be forgotten!
