Eagles softball goes two for two

The West Valley varsity softball team had two wins last week, including a whopping 13-1 blowout against Corning on Friday, April 3.

The Eagles held the Cardinals to only 4 hits, but West Valley had no trouble making contact with the ball, with a game total 16 hits.

The Eagles Cassidy Olson dominated the Cardinal offense, striking out 9. Olsen also had an impressive showing off the mound with three hits, including a more than 250 foot homerun over the centerfield fence.

Junior Cassidy Horner had four hits and three RBIs. Senior Haylee Turpin had three hits, while junior Amber Buchanan had two hits, bringing in three RBIs.

The Eagles also enjoyed a 6-1 victory over Yreka earlier in the week, on March 31.

Junior Melanie Andrew led the Eagle's offense with 3 hits and one RBI.

Pitcher Cassidy Olson made another impressive showing with 9 strikeouts against the Miners.

The Eagles have a 14-8 overall record and are 2-0 in league play.
