Four West Valley FFA students elected to regional FFA offices

On March 19, ten West Valley students attended the annual FFA regional meeting held at Chico State University.

Four of these students were running for the 2009-2010 regional officer positions. As the two hundred FFA members began to pour into the building, all 16 candidates started campaigning for their positions.

After a quick meet and greet with each of the voting delegates, the candidates had one last attempt to win them over with a two-minute speech.

After each candidate gave their speech, their fate was decided by the delegates. Once the ballots were in, the candidates eagerly awaited the final results.

The West Valley FFA chapter was very excited to hear that all four of its members in the running had been elected. Jacob Vazquez was elected Sentinel, Owen Macfarlane as Treasurer, Allison Tucker as Superior Region Vice President and Jessica Vazquez as President.

The newly-elected team is very excited to see what this next year has in store for them.

The West Valley Chapter was also very proud of its members that competed in the regional level competitions.

Jessica Vazquez competed in the regional Prepared Speech contest and received second place.

In addition, the advanced and novice Parliamentary Procedure teams received first and second place.

All of these members have qualified for the state finals. The Prepared Speech contest will be taking place on Thursday, April 16. The Parliamentary Procedure contest will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18.

We would like to wish these members good luck and hope that they can continue West Valley FFA's train of success.
