High school rodeo rides in Cottonwood

Rough Stock Musketeers:
Pictured from left to right; Casey Meroshnekoff, Laramie Collins, Bubba Davies, Dean Autry, Zack Brown and CJ cash stand together in as a united front on the buckin’ chutes at this weekends last California High School Rodeo in Cottonwood for the 2008-2009 season. This group of athletes are the first to help each other out behind the chutes, in the arena and to cheer each other on during a ride.

With the high school season coming to an end and the High School District Finals, State Finals and National Finals about to begin, the high school rodeo team had their last rodeo of the season in Cottonwood at the Bobby Jones Arena.

The rodeo included lot of great competition and new officers were voted in for the 2009-2010 season. A new District One Rodeo Queen, Lauren Bebensee, was crowned as well.

The District One California High School Rodeo was held on April 4-5.

The district finals will be held in Etna on May 1 and 2. Many of the high school competitors will be participating in the Etna Rodeo, Sunday May 3rd, on that weekend as well.

The results of the weekends High School Rodeo are as follows:

<B>All Around Cowboy:</B> Dean Autry, Fort Jones 90 points.

<B>Reserve All Around:</B> Daniel Ferreira, Fort Jones 73 points.

<B>2nd Runner up: </B>Damon Nixon, Palo Cedro 52 points.

<B>3rd Runner up: </B>Laramie Collins, Weed 48 points.

<B>4th Runner up tied at 47 points: </B>Justin Lee of Cottonwood, Casey Meroshnekoff of Red Bluff and Zack Brown of Red Bluff.
