The Eagles varsity softball team came from behind in an exciting seventh-inning win over the Grizzlies, 6-5.
The win moved West Valley to a 15-8 record overall and a 3-0 league record. The Eagles are currently first in the Northern Section. Lassen is second with 3-1 in the league. The Eagles managed to pull off the win with only 4 hits, compared to Lassen's 10 during the Wednesday game.
Hanna Emmen hit a game-winning, two-run single up the middle, and finished with three RBIs.
Cassidy Horner got a hit with 2 RBIs, and Kaylin Miner had one hit with 1 RBI.
Cassidy Olsen had the fourth hit for the Eagles. Olsen also got 6 strike-outs pitching against the Grizzlies.
West Valley senior Olsen is leading the Northern Section batting average with .540. She is also tied for first with Lassen's Natalie Yonan with 3 league homeruns. Hanna Emmen is tied for third in league homeruns, with 2. West Valley Junior Cassidy Horner has 1.
The Eagles are also dominating the league with RBIs. Horner leads with 21, Emmen is second with 18 and junior Amy Westaby has 16.
Olsen is leading the league with a .603 on-base percentage, and also has the most stolen bases, with 21.
Olsen also leads the Northern Section in pitching, with a .86 ERA, 122 strikeouts so far this year, and 12 game wins.
After spring break, the Eagles will face their sister-school team at The Pasture on April 21.
