Students at Anderson Union High School got to see more than a dozen hot-rods, muscle cars and more during a lunch-time "Show-N-Shine" designed to get people hyped up for the upcoming Hot-Orama car and motorcycle show set for April 23-26 at the Shasta District Fair grounds in Anderson.

The show will feature dozens of events and car displays. Last year, the event attracted nearly a thousand cars and drivers, organizer Bob Sanders said.

"One thing that is making our car show grow is that we don't leave anybody out. It's pretty neat," Sanders explained.

"It's going to be a really good show this year. There is going to be a lot of stuff to see," he said.

Anderson High's Show-N-Shine was one of twelve free events giving locals a sneak peek at some of the cars that will take part in the show. Students were invited to showcase their cars as well.

"Today, we had not only the Native American Culture Day going on in the quad, we had the Hot-Orama Show-N-Shine," school principal Scott Booth said.

"The kids like it because it's not only something that they can look at, but it's something they can participate in with their cars. It makes them feel more a part of what's happening in the community," he said.

Students at Anderson New Technology High School will also have a Show-N-Shine on Tuesday, April 21.

The final Show-N-Shine will take place Friday, April 24, at TJ's Drive-In to help that institution celebrate their 55th year of operation.

At 6 p.m. on April 24, drivers are invited to take part in the Friday Night Cruise along North Street to McMurray Drive, then south to Balls Ferry Road and west back to East Center Street in Anderson.

On Friday at the racetrack, there will be a motorcycle tribute ride for fallen riders, veterans and active military, a stunt bike motorcycle demonstration, a burn-out competition and a 200-lap endurance race.

On Friday and Saturday at the fairgrounds there will be solid rock competitions, Show-N-Glow, sound competitions and a Kakkle Fest ... " where they start up old dragsters and let them run," said Sanders.

"There's a lot going on," he said.

Sanders expects even more cars and motorcycles to be on display at Hot-Orama than in previous years.

"We have everything," Sanders said.

This year is also the 100th anniversary of the Model-T Ford - so one entire building at the fairgrounds will feature all Fords. The line-up will start out with the oldest Fords and make it's way up to Mustangs, Sanders said.

Other cars registered to take part in the event include hot-rods, muscle cars, imports, reproduction cars, suede cars and rat rods, as well as karts, motorcycles, dragsters, bicycles, boats and tractors.

More information about the event can be found at www.hot-orama.com.
