Anderson offers quick fast food

Want your fast food fast?

The Burger King at 2535 North St. in Anderson was recently named the "Fastest Drive-Thru" of nearly 200 Burger King restaurants in northern California, announced Renee Noel, marketing coordinator for J&A Food Services, Inc., of Redding, which operates 14 of the franchised restaurants north of Sacramento.

In addition, the Anderson franchise was certified as a "Center of Excellence Training Store," a rating that is only given to franchise restaurants operating in the top 1 percent of all Burger Kings in the nation.

"The whole staff is pretty much behind this effort," said Tony Elsea, general manager at the Anderson Burger King. Elsea started as a line cook at the restaurant more than 10 years ago and has steadily risen through the ranks since 1998 to head the 22-member crew.

"Being rated No. 1 out of all the chain's restaurants on the West Coast is pretty nice," Elsea said. "But it definitely takes some teamwork."

To qualify for the award, Elsea and his crew had to undergo a grueling full day of efficiency testing, inspections and food preparation timing. During the tests conducted on a recent Friday, Elsea and his crew members were able to maintain a consistent delivery time for all counter-ordered meal items of 1 minute, 8 seconds. The franchise's drive-through window averaged a 2 minute, 12 seconds delivery time, Noel said.

To even qualify, the franchise had to exceed the nationally established score of 2 minutes and 30 seconds average delivery time and exceed an 85 percent score for all inspection criteria, Noel said.

Several years ago, the Anderson Burger King franchise earned a trophy as the fastest among J&A Food Services' own 14-store group, Elsea added.

J&A Food Services also owns 24 casual dining restaurants throughout California and Oregon.

I am sorry...but they are cheaters. To get their times down in the drive thru, when you order and then pay at the window, they try to get you to pull around to the front until your food is done. And they do it even when no one is behind you. I refused to do it after the 4th time being asked. Unless you have a huge order or the line is piling up, wait for your order and see how there times are next year!
