Burglars broke through a glass window to access the office area of Ace Hardware Express, 1900 Marx Way in Anderson, setting off the security alarm early Monday morning at about 1:16 a.m.
Burglars rummaged through the office but nothing was reported missing by store personnel, according to Anderson Police Department Captain Robert Kirvin. Later, it was determined that a "weed eater" was stolen, Kirvin said, adding that the burglar may have been frustrated that nothing of value was available in the office.
After viewing surveillance video, APD Captain Kirvin released a description of the suspected burglar: male, stocky build, black pants, white shoes and gloves. Although the suspect's face was not visable due to a hood over his head, Kirvin said the suspect may be the same person that broke into the store previously.
This makes the second burglary of the Ace Hardware business. During the last burglary on Nov. 11, 2008, burglars broke-in through the front of the business and vacated when the alarm sounded.
Anyone with information about the burglary is encouraged to contact the APD at 378-6600.
