The Cottonwood farmers market opened on Friday at 3 p.m. with about 15 vendors. The market, in the lot next to ETC Mercantile at 3308 Main St., is scheduled for every Friday from 3-7 p.m.
Most of the booths on hand this week were crafters.
One of the few farmers on hand provided spring mix greens.
"It's so early in the season (for most vegetables)," Robert Haley of Hacienda Farms in Cottonwood said. "It'll pick up. This is the last of our winter crop."
One grower sold tomato plants for a dollar each, and another sold fresh, tender strawberries. Local Cottonwood honey was also on sale from Coats Apiaries.
The market was still a successful draw, with over 150 people arriving at the market within the first couple hours, Cottonwood Watershed Group Executive Director Brynn Nolan said.
Not only providing the Cottonwood community with a weekly market for growers and crafters, "the booth rentals help support the work we do at the watershed," Nolan said.
Market goers in the coming weeks can expect more produce, continued live music, painters, and hot food vendors every Friday, Nolan said.
"People can come here, have dinner and go home," Nolan said. "It's a nice thing to do on a Friday evening after work."
