West Valley got a 12-0 shut-out game and were one away from a no-hitter against the Big Blue on Tuesday at The Pasture.
The Cubs couldn't connect against the Eagle's ace pitcher Cassidy Olson. But the Eagles, fresh off of a tournament in Reno, came out swinging.
"We got a pretty good pitcher, and I think we hit the ball really well," said Eagles coach Lupe Cordova.
The Cubs had only one hit to the Eagles 12.
Karlee Porkony was the Anderson's lone hitter.
Eagles top hitters were Amy Westably and Hanna Emmen, who both had two hits including a double, and two RBIs. Cassidy Horner also had two hits and a RBI.
The victory gave West Valley twice as many wins than losses with a 16-8 record.
The loss put the Cubs at 7-15 record. However, the Cubs beat Corning 5-1 two days later.
West Valley Eagles coach Lupe Cordova said his team is on the right track to meet their goals.
"We want to win the league and win the section. That's been our goal from the beginning," he said.
Instead of taking time off during Spring break, the coach took his team to a softball tournament in Reno, a move he said helped strengthen the team.
"Usually we sit all of spring break, and we didn't do that this year," Cordova said. "We saw a lot of situations and played some really good teams."
