Over two thousand people attended the Family Fun Fest at the Anderson River Park on Saturday, according to Pam Lewis of Anderson Parks and Recreation. The calm sunny weather made fishing fun for some youth even though seemingly few of the fish were biting.

Several booths, all from government agencies or nonprofits, provided an activity for youth and many gave away free prizes for children

“I liked fishing and the Hawaiian dancers the best at the (amphitheater), said youth Nicholas Niles of Anderson while at the petting zoo presented by Bella Vista Farms.

The upgraded ampitheater was busy, running through its maiden voyage with the new electrical system installed the day before, Lewis said.

About 12 acts hit the stage, including several dance acts.

The event was sponsored by Anderson Parks and Recreation, Anderson Partnership for Healthy Children, Dept. of Fish and Game, and Shasta County Public Health.
