Happy Valley Pride: August 5, 2009

What a summer! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the sign at the school that read school starts on August 17! This year is going to fast. Less than 5 months and Christmas will be here! Well how is your summer going? I get up at 5:00 am and out the door as soon as I can see what I am doing and back in the house by 10:30 am. I'm getting a lot of farming done I have a son who is between jobs so he has been coming over and helping and I'm so far ahead my husband and I are going to take a mini vacation. We are going to Medford, Organ to visit Southern Oregon Live Steamers than on to Train Mountain Railroad located in Chiloquin to see miniature railroads. Art is building a 7- 1/2-gage steam engine so he talks to railroaders; he always picks up valuable information in the quest to finish his train.

I went to the movies and saw " Ice Age" it was great I laughed and laughed. Did you know laughter is good for the soul? I haven't done much this summer but I have a pool and have been spending a lot of time in it.

The gardens are really producing now there is nothing better than to pick fresh fruits and vegetables so get that Farm Trail map out and look up your local farmer. Don't have a map? Than go to Curves or Anderson Valley Post in Anderson or Graphic Emporium in Redding or most business in Happy Valley and get one.

Not much happening in Happy Valley except kids getting ready for school. You might start getting that trash together for the Happy Valley Pride Day Event. That's the day you can dump for free, be sure to keep the metal separate no tires, batteries or chemicals. You got appliances? You can dispose of them for a fee.

Happy Valley Farm Trail will start having their meetings again in September. The subject is "What can I plant for winter". We will have a potluck, more information, as we get closer.

I'm out of here, got to get the car ready for the trip, pack my bags, go to town to do some shopping, and on and on it goes. Pray for our country, our leaders, military personal, police and fire fighters. Do good, avoid evil and smile God loves you and so do I.
